All aboard for a weekend when a Ryedale market town goes back in time – the Pickering 1940s Wartime Weekend will wow the crowds on 13th, 14th and 15th October 2017!
Often regarded as the main event in Pickering’s annual events calendar, the Wartime Weekend includes a packed programme of World War Two and 1940s themed entertainment. While it is run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway the event has attracted numerous participants, including dancers, singers, parades and ‘fashionistas’.
Pickering then plays host to fascinating military vehicle exhibitions, history showcases and a number of workshops.
Two firm favourites on the autumn events calendar are Ryedale Book Festival and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Annual Steam Gala – great for bookworms and steam train enthusiasts alike!
For 2017, Ryedale Book Festival has celebrated reading and all things book related throughout the year.
And the next exciting chapter takes place Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd September 2017.
With events taking place in a variety of locations, from the Milton Rooms to Jack Berry House, our drivers would be happy to take to one or all venues so you can relax and enjoy meeting some brilliant authors.
Following a year of ‘stable rest’, Malton Festival of Racing is back with us on Sunday 17th September.
The event, formerly called Malton Open Stables Day, is a key date in the local equine calendar, sponsored by Arena Racing Company.
Malton, regarded by many as Yorkshire’s Food Capital, is hosting its Harvest Food Festival on Saturday 9th September.
With game, seafood, baking, cheese, fruit, beer and much more, it will set the taste buds tingling between 9am and 5pm.
A sister event to the famous Malton Food Lovers Festival, the market town will feature around 80 stalls in and around its market square.
That means the town will be busy, so be sure to book your taxi with us a bit earlier than usual, just in case!
This autumnal event will include chef demos, cookery lessons, talks, tastings, entertainment, a bar, live music and some fab street food.
As well as the harvest-themed event, Malton is also host to its monthly food market, which returns in October.
