Following a year of ‘stable rest’, Malton Festival of Racing is back with us on Sunday 17th September.
The event, formerly called Malton Open Stables Day, is a key date in the local equine calendar, sponsored by Arena Racing Company.
Organised by Racing Welfare, racing fans and the local community will get a unique opportunity to see ‘behind the scenes’ at some of Yorkshire’s best-known trainers.
Usually off limits, one of the festival’s key attractions is the opening of the trainers’ yards to the public.
Trainers such as Richard Fahey, Brian Ellison, Mick Easterby, David O’Meara and many others will be welcoming folks from 9am to 12noon.

After seeing the beautiful, elegant racehorses, stable staff and trainers during the morning shift, the afternoon brings a wide range of attractions for the whole family.
So make sure you saddle up for the following events including:
- A trail run over the gallops
- A jockey’s relay show-jumping competition
- A question and answer session with well-known racing characters
- A racing personality’s dog show
- Hobby horse and wheelbarrow races for stable staff.
There will also be a wide-range of high-quality food, drink and shopping stalls in Malton’s Market Place. For a full round-up, please click here
