'The Best of Country Shows’ takes place in the picturesque village of Thornton Le Dale on Wednesday 9th August.
Thornton Le Dale Show is a traditional country event and is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.
This, the 98th show, takes place at the Showfield, Maltongate, in the village.
This year’s event includes the equine stunt team, The Knights of Nottingham; freestyle motocross with Jamie Squibb; and there’ll be fire stunt displays, falconry, gun dog and sheep dog trial.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a country show without horse and livestock classes, handicrafts, dairy displays, farm and garden produce, trade stands, exhibitions, children’s fun fair, live music, junior show jumping and not forgetting a licenced bar.
Tickets for an adult is £9, children aged 5 years to 16 years £4, while under 5s go free. Parking is free.
And if you’re at work and can’t make it when the gates open, don’t worry – there’s an evening schedule of event and ticket entry after 4pm costs just £2.50.
If you are taking part with your horse, sheep or similar, then it's an early start as judging starts at 9am.
Displays start at 10.30am and last throughout the day.

• Did you know … Mathew Grimes, who is buried in the churchyard at Thornton Le Dale, fought at the battle of Waterloo (1815) and guarded Napoleon Boneparte when he was exiled to the island of St Helena, a remote tropical island in the South Atlantic ocean.
And of course, you can rely on Station Taxis to get you to and from this lovely show in style and comfort ... but that goes without saying!
